Gluten Free at Home Bargains

Who knew discount store Home Bargain offered gluten free and have introduced a couple of new products for February 2022. There is a lot of cheap products you can find that are naturally gluten free or accidentally gluten free but they also do some fabulous gluten free products too...it does depend on store size but worth checking out your local as you never know!

Gluten Free at Home Bargains
Home Bargains probably isn't somewhere you really expect to find a lot of gluten free food, not labelled gluten free anyway. I always just expect to stumble over some accidentally gluten free items! And of course you can't go wrong with a box or size of Bliss bars (if you haven't tried them you are missing out!)

This week a couple of new products have gone into Home Bargains by a brand called Truly. Both the mini muffins and brownie bites they have put on the shelves are just £1.79 which is a bargain when it comes to gluten free products. They are found with the normal cakes and generally seem to be on the top shelf (in my store and other stores I have heard about).

It is nice to see some new stuff appearing in these cheaper places, these new one do have "Gluten Frei" wrote on the individual packs inside so makes me think they are French import and could help to influence the price of them. I have generally seen that those products produced internationally seem to be cheaper on shelves (I could be wrong but everything I have seen seems to have been that way) though I'm not sure why!

They have done some Freely Scrumptious products for a while now which include chocolate chip shortbread, millionaires shortbread and flapjack squares, ranging from 99p to £1.49. These are all very reminiscent of Lazy Days gluten free products found it supermarkets sometimes for double that price.. If you are lucky you might find the mint rocky road type squares too which are divine, but they seem hard to come by.

I did notice my store still carries Nestle Go Free Cornflakes and Coco Rice too at £1.99 a box. I think these will depend on store size, I do live by one of the biggest stores in the UK so it does tend to carry more than your average size store does, but worth checking if your store stocks them.

Also in my branch in Crewe they still stock Schar bread, this was put in on a gluten free event a good few years ago and it is nice to see they stayed. It is two lots of bread called Rustico and Blanco which aren't in other supermarkets and I think they are around £1.70 a loaf. Ciabattas are also stocked too.

While in Home Bargains make sure to stock up on your everyday naturally gluten free stuff too, you will find Heinz beans, Heinz beans and sausage (yes they are gluten free), mayonnaise, crisps, chocolate etc all available and usually pretty cheap so worth stocking up while you go check out those new mini muffins!
