A Closer Look...
We got to try this delicious packet mix last week and we can honestly say Thornleys are definitely on the top end of the spectrum when it comes to packet mix sauces.
In all honesty, we're not the packet mix kind of people, we like to make things from scratch but when the opportunity arose to try these we couldn't say no, so we gave it a bash.
All Thornleys sauces are made from natural ingredients so no nasty additives in there just plain, simple ingredients. All the pasta bake ingredients include are cornflour, milk, onion powder, sugar, mustard powder, salt, garlic powder, parsley, pepper, lemon flavouring, no additives or preservatives which is great since many packet mixes are packed full of rubbish.
The sauce mix is simple to make up, just add milk and cook over the hob until thickened then cook some pasta, throw in a can of tuna and sweetcorn and mix it all together before throwing it in the oven to brown. You can't get simpler than that really. It's perfect whether you can cook or not, it's so simple there isn't really anything that can go wrong with it.
In terms of taste it is very tasty, though we did find the mustard came through a lot so if you're not a big fan of the taste of mustard you might want to bypass it however it does add a lot to the flavour of a simple dish. We certainly recommend it for anyone of any age, it would be a great dish to feed the kids after a long day at work with it being so quick to make!
