If you live in the North East or South West England, anywhere in Scotland or South and Mid Wales, then for now, the free from range is unavailable as Aldi have chose to target very specific areas. The initial gluten free trial sees a lot of the North West, Midlands and South East England get this brand new bay which includes bread, cakes, pasta and more (find a full list of items in this previous blog). They seem to be particularly heavily focussed on the West Midlands, which has over 50 stores running the trial, followed by Merseyside, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Kent, Cheshire and Derbyshire who all have a good amount of stores taking part too.
I know this is infuriating for so many but if over the next 6 months the data shows this range is wanted and needed then it is likely to be rolled out further and hopefully one day become permanent. Aldi US have had a permanent range for a long time, as well as the big 5 supermarkets in the UK having ranges for as long as I can remember, so as long as it proves its worth, this gluten free range could be around for years to come. But, it is a case of use it or lose it. If you are lucky enough to be an area where the trial is happening, please take advantage of it, make that data glow for Aldi so they consider keeping it after the trial period. Sales figures are what the company wants to see, so lets make it worth keeping!
